So I am gonna get to the untapped traffic sources that you can use to boost your site traffic, but first……..

Let me start by saying that if you don’t know who your target audience is, STOP RIGHT NOW!

I don’t mean to yell, but you need to figure out who your target customer is, and I mean right now.

Knowing your “perfect” customer is KEY when you start your marketing campaign.

Effective marketing is getting in front of people who want what you have to offer.

Besides knowing who your perfect customer is, you need to make sure that the product you offer (whether created by you, or that you are an affiliate of), you can actually stand behind, and that it solves the problem, want, or need of your target audience.

Ok, weird example I know;)

I just came back of a weekend full of bowling tournaments, and FUN.

Now I am not a bowler, I had the gutter guards up, however, I have friends that have “the ring” and have bowled 300!

If you don’t know much about bowling, you are not alone, but just know that a 300 is a dang good bowling score:).

Anyway, back to traffic…….

Remember, real people are on the internet looking for REAL solutions to their problems, wants, and needs.

You need to remember that you must provide real value to your targeted visitors, and that takes real work.

Looking for a push button system that will generate you 1 million unique visitors while you sleep? It doesn’t exist, really, it doesn’t.

Remember, not all traffic is created equal…you want targeted traffic….no traffic is free traffic…you will pay with you hard earned cash-o-la, or you will pay with your precious time….

Again, you want high quality traffic that is targeted….

Dramatically increase your targeted visitors by being creative, and using methods the masses aren’t using, or atleast being creative in using the different traffic methods.

If your business is not generating the income you want it to, then pay attention cuz we are about to have some fun here:).

Have you ever heard of zinepal.com?

Most people haven’t, and that’s the whole point;)

Zinepal turns your awesome content into an e-book.

An e-book is a great way to reach your target audience, that might not necessarily find your blog.

Zinepal.com is a free resource you can use to get your content into a different readable content for your audience.

All you do is enter the URL of your post, hit enter, go grab something to drink, and in a few short minutes you will have a complete and oh so neat little e-book.

I bet now you are wondering how you turn this e-book into traffic…..

Well hold your horses, I am getting there ;0).

Once you turn your blog post into an e-book, save the e-book as your “keyword”……if you don’t have a keyword, choose what someone would type into a search bar to find your e-book (Basically what your book is about).

Now you are going to take your saved e-book and upload it to a document sharing site called docstoc.com

Docstoc is a resource database with over 20 million professional documents geared toward small businesses. If you have content that can help small business owners, this is a great one! If not, you can also share your e-book on other document sharing websites such as: Scribd, slideshare, and Yudu.

This is a great way to get quality traffic without having to depend on the search engines or social media.

So get to writing that quality content and watch how your traffic will sky rocket! Don’t take my word for it…start writing;)

They are like the mother in law we just can’t get rid of, they are EVERYWHERE. LOL

So if you have a Google+ account, you can build a list of leads using Google+.

At any one given time, you can have up to 5000 people in your G+ circles.

What most people don’t know is that as you create your circles, if you have less than 100 people in a circle, you have the option to email your post to each of those people’s gmail-email box….

Now if you just had a “holy-moly” moment, you should have!

This is an awesome way to reach targeted visitors in your industry that are interested in what you have to say.

Now, with that said, this is NOT to be abused…..

No marketing spamRemember, if you know me, then you know that I don’t like SPAM, under any circumstances…DON’T do it!

If you haven’t figured it out, spam doesn’t work….it’s too salty, and it stinks….

Get my drift?

The key here is to build your circles by searching people in your niche. Make sure that you have less than 100 visitors in your circle, if you want to be able to email them down the road.

Search people, and communities for your target audience, and add them to your circles.

When you add them to your circles, your content automatically will show up in their feed….

This is awesome because you don’t even have to get their permission, you just add them, and viola!

They key here is to build relationships, engage, then send people where you want them to go…..

If you haven’t learned already, everything begins with serving your target audience FIRST.

Provide GREAT content that is helpful, find out what your target audience needs/wants, and give it to them.

Once they like and trust you, then you can show them one of your products that will be a helpful solution to a problem they are having.

Untapped traffic sources are a great way to get in front of your target audience without having to fight as much for their attention.

The key here is you have to DELIVER the goods.

Make sure your content is of value, and that you keep your reader in mind as you create it.

But it’s only because I actually like you, and it’s so darn important.

There’s no need for generic traffic generation on the web.

If you are using the same tired strategies, and the same tired lines as all of the other inexperienced people trying to market their product online, you are going to be in for a rude awakening……

NO CUSTOMERS…..how would you like that to slap you in the face……you put your time and energy into trying to get customers, just to find that your efforts were fruitless…..

What is Scribd?

Scribd is a file sharing site where you can upload and share scholastic work, presentations, your own books, articles, case studies and guides; you can actually use Scribd for traffic generation which we will discuss in a bit.

This neat site is like a Google for documents…use keywords and when people search docs, BOOM, traffic city baby…..

Only share your own unique work on this platform….don’t get caught slipping, or you will get thrown in scribd jail, banned from sharing, and costing yourself targeted traffic, and lots of it…..

Shoot, let me get back to telling you more about it.

It’s like an information repository that you can be a part of whenever you  want to share information about your company, or product. Just make sure the content you share isn’t blatantly selling, but you can show that you are knowledgeable in your industry.

Scribd is also great for SEO, but this will take me 10 blog posts to tall you about, so we will visit this another day, ok?

This is an untapped resource, and a great way to get targeted visitors to your website/offer.

More About Scribd

Create an account in Scribd, look for the “Sign Up” button and follow instructions.

Fill out the registration form completely with your personal details including your name, username, email address, password etc.

They will ask you to verify your email by clicking a link in the message they sent to your email account. Once this is done you can log in and start completing your profile and other details and upload your content and use Scribd for traffic generation.

FYI: The minimum word count that’s accepted in Scribd is around 250 words long per article; however, you can write as much as several thousand words if necessary.

A word of caution to this story though…..

If you use too many keywords in your content you will be declared as a spammer and will be penalized for it, including blocking your account, I will talk about this more in a few:).

Upload your content to Scribd. Once you’ve finished uploading it you can now fill out the tags in the tags section. Use the same keywords you used in your content when you fill out that section. This is an important part in employing Scribd for traffic generation.

The Importance Of Doing What Everyone Else Isn’t Doing:

The whole idea of originality in advertising is foreign to most business owners….

If you can master being, well, how can I say this….a non-bore…..being unique…you are a step ahead of the rest.

Stand out in your industry, stand out in your marketing.

While everyone else is wearing black and white stripe t-shirts, I want you to find a red shirt with a crazy, big red hat, and put that on…..

Be different, and you can laugh all the way to the bank.

If you wanna make cash you can stash……..if you want that green people fiend….

You must put your creative Sam I Am hat on, and start thinking way outside of that dirty ole shoebox…..you better find new ways to use the internet…..

They are being generic, or posting content that is not all that valuable……or they are posting valuable content, but not delivering it with a pretty bow on it….

Get my drift?

Scribd might be just what the doctor ordered…..kid tested, mother approved;). Get new targeted visitors to your site daily from just one upload.

Now you can do it BIG, and create a consistent amount of uploads for your industry, and then you will just continue to watch the traffic roll in…..

Scribd is a great addition to your marketing campaign!

Linkedin is one of my favorite social media outlets. I love me some Linkedin. LOL It’s one of the world’s biggest professional networks online.

As most of you already know my story, I started full-time in the online world back in 2012, which is like 50 years ago in the internet marketing world;).

Ok, OK, so I am over exaggerating just a bit, but it is not an easy task to generate 100% of your income using the internet…..many have tried, and em…..well you know the rest…….

I started an HR Consulting firm, and several of the major clients I acquired were because of good ole Linkedin.  On Linkedin, currently, I receive about 20 connection requests per day. I use each and every connection to market my businesses, and I will reveal how shortly…..

How are you currently using Linkedin to grow your business, and are you actually getting clients/customers from your methods?  If not, you are missing the boat my friend.

Is Using Linkedin To Grow My Business Worth It?

Most business owners I have talked to, that I tell about the hidden treasures of Linkedin have said, “Kay, I just don’t have time to…….”, and what I will say to you, and what I say to them is, you just don’t have time NOT to…..

So let me break it down for you……What is the front end value of one customer/client for you? What is the lifetime value? If you don’t know your numbers, then business 101 is where you will need to start, BEFORE you start using Linkedin, or any other strategy to get customers/clients.

So let’s say that the average front end value of your customer is $100. Lets say you conservatively get 3 new customers per week using Linkedin……$300/week…$1200/month extra for your business, not too bad for a few hours work!

Know your goals, and what you want to achieve with Linkedin before you begin….(how many customers you want, how many leads per day, ect). This is a Linkedin tip to grow your business that is extremely important. You must begin with the end in mind……so cliche’ but true.

1. robust profile…either personal page, or company page. Take the time to completely fill out your profile, and this will pay dividends later……This will serve as your advertising….what you can do for your customers, and the benefits of working with you. Make sure your profile is optimized, so you can be found for the keywords you want to be associated with. For example, if you have a carpet cleaning business, and you want people searching to be able to find you when they type in carpet cleaner, make sure that keyword is sprinkled in your profile.

Use a great professional image, this is important because if your profile isn’t visually appealing, who will want to know more…..and no picture looks like you are hiding something…..Also, do remember this isn’t facebook. Save the pix french kissing your boo or pictures of your grandkids for Facebook.

In the upcoming weeks, I will be sharing some very effective ways to market on facebook as well for FREE:), and you can’t beat free. lol

get recommendations from anyone who can vouch for you/your company and can tell everyone how awesome you are…..recommendations hold ALOT of wait! I actually had a company hire me from linkedin, based purely on recommendations. You don’t need a million recommendations, I think I have 5….5 is my favorite number, and I do lots of things in 5’s:).

In your profile, cross promote the other channels that you are on, and make sure to mention them in your description…YOu can also connect with me on……..

2. Create linkedin group or contribute to linkedin group in your industry…become the thought leader in your industry, share your knowledge, and people will reach out to you. This is like an effective forum marketing strategy, and that is why your profile must be filled out well, because if someone like what you have to say in a group, the first place they are going to go is to your profile.

Content Marketing is an awesome way to gain followers, connections, and build relationships, and groups in your industry are an awesome place to start. Be helpful, honest, and shine like the expert you are, and people will take notice.

I’ve found that the best time to reach people with content is in the mornings, before 11a during the week.

3. Industry Visibility- This is a great place to see what others in your industry, especially your competition is doing…….You can grow your business by finding out where the leaders in your industry are haging out, and 9 times out of ten they are hanging out there for a reason….more customers, and more revenue for their business.

4. Use Linkedin polls for customer feedback, cheap market research, or feedback that will help you improve your business, and increase your business revenue.

This, along with posting on your timeline is a great way to engage your connections. Interacting consistently will help you nurture your online presence on linkedin. Nurture your relationships, and you will find customers….it’s that simple. I can get on linkedin today, and have a new paying customer within a few days, just by combing through the connections I already have and searching groups with people looking for what I offer……

5. Use the advanced search option, and search for your target customers. You should already know who your ideal customer is….

With advanced search you can find exactly what you are looking for……Want all CEO’s within 50 miles of your business, you got it! Want all HR professionals in Texas, that also have recruiting experience, and have worked for fortune 500 companies, you got it! The possibilities are endless!!! You can find whoever you want, including your ideal customer. This is an awesome feature!

Speaking of searching, when people request you, I engage each and every person that requests me as a connection. I reply to each person and reply with an email thanking them for reaching out to me, and after my name, I put my title and website at the end of the email. This works great for engagement.

Social Media is one of the most powerful ways to connect to your customers today.

Since this video on social media, the numbers, stats, and trends have just gotten bigger…..

No matter what business you are in, if you are not using social media, you are missing out on money

And I know you don’t like to miss out on green……lol

Ok, let’s chat about a couple key things to remember when using social media……..

Remember: Real People Are On The Internet

Many business owners decide that they need to be on the internet because everyone tells them they need to be on the internet.  They make the mistake of thinking that the internet is SO big that they will increase their revenue just because of the number of people online.

Now, you are getting to know me by now, so you know my mantra is “lifetime learner”…..

I truly believe everyone should be a lifetime learner, and with that said, business owners need to learn how to get the most out of marketing online.

You need to learn the right way to interact, and connect online.

Yes, there are ALOT of people online, and as I said before, if you are not online, you are MISSING the boat…….

But know that all of these people online are being “sold” to every minute they are on the internet….from their email inbox to their facebook page, they always have offers in front of them. People become immune to seeing spammy messages, and advertising done WRONG because they see it often.

Now don’t misunderstand, advertising done the right way IS working, but spam will no longer work…..

You must remember that there a millions of people online…..

The important part of this sentence is, they are people….

You are marketing to people, connecting with people…….

Connect with people the right way the first time, because you might not get a second time.

6 Tips: Business Growth Using Social Media

1. Images- Uses images to tell a story, sell, and engage people.  You have heard the old adage a million times…….

A picture is worth a thousand words….but it’s SO true!

Pictures are engaging, and inspire conversation.

You don’t have to take pictures of your product, you can take pictures of, and find pictures of trends happening in your industry, for example.

Post pictures of things that are cool, and relate to your brand.

2. Get to searching- This is such an underused feature in social media, and is so darn easy to set up.

You can set-up searches on social media, so that you know whats being talked about related to your brand or company—-then join the conversation!

When you set-up the searches, it is really cool because you will see when people are searching for services/products like what you offer, and you can give them what they are looking for……it’s that simple.

For example, when I was strictly working as an HR consultant, I would set-up searches on twitter to find people searching for certain types of positions, and I would get them what they are looking for….positions. It was SO easy, and SO effective.

This is also a great way to see who is talking about you or your brand.  If someone posts a negative or positive comment, you can easily respond quickly:)

This is a great way to connect with people.

There are even tools like Hootsuite that will help you keep up with your tweets & mentions.

3. Raise curiosity- One way to engage people is to raise their curiosity about your product.

This is an awesome technique that really works in social media because we are curious creatures by nature.

Give them a neat benefit about your product/service, or talk about the one of the problems they will have solved by buying from you.

I think the entertainment, and particularly the movie industry is perfect at this…….

like a movie trailer……..make them want to know more…..

then be willing to jump in and have conversations. This is a great way to connect.

A few places that work really well for piquing interest are Twitter & Linkedin groups. Both have worked really well for me.

4. Try paid campaigns- Paid campaigns, are a great way to get your message out there to the masses quicker. Paid campaigns will get your offer seen by more eyeballs.

Now, I have had clients come to me and say, “Facebook paid ads don’t work”,

And to them I say “Tell that to my buddy you who made $50,000 on a t-shirt campaign using just facebook paid ads

They do work, but before you go dump alot of money into facebook ads, you need to make sure you have a properly developed ad, and a great offer.

I could probably talk about this topic all day but I will leave that for another post, another day, but if you have questions, contact me.

Use ads to get your brand out there, get noticed, and start connecting, it works wonders.

5. Find out where existing customers are- As you get customers, the easiest way to find out what social media they are using is to ask. Ask them to add you to their social media, and ask them where they are in social media. This is the easiest way to find out where they are hanging out.

Just ask…..

It’s great because you already have a fan of your product, so why not connect with them on social media, and let them help you spread the word about your company.

So if you already collect data from your customers like email, just add an additional field and ask them what social media networks they are apart of……

The bottom line is be where your customers are…..

6. BE responsive and update your profiles-I touched on this a bit earlier, but you want to make sure that you are connecting, talking, and building relationships daily.  You must be responsive to your customers, and people reaching out to you.

Show them you are a real person, and show them that you value them, and their feedback.

This is very important, and a tip that should not to be overlooked.

It will also help you stand out because there are many companies out there that are not doing this.

Updating your profiles often will also keep you at the forefront of your customers mind.

The Don’ts When Building Your Business Using Social Media

  • Don’t make it obvious your end goal it to get a sell….care about people first, and the sale will come
  • Don’t send unsolicited links to your site or product to people you don’t know, again, build relationships FIRST (ever seen the sign that says NO SOLICITATION….no-one likes to feel like they are being sold)
  • Don’t expect results the same day you start using social media, it takes time to build a following, and build long-term connections
  • Don’t ditch everything else you are doing in your marketing efforts, and focus all resources on social media….use social media to compliment what you are already doing to build your business
