I know I am showing my age here, but if you were around in the 80’s, then surely you have heard of my boys Poison! Just thought I would start this post off with a little flash back from the ole days…

Man that takes me back! LOL

Every rose has it’s thorn, and every blog should have it’s plug-ins;)

Ok, so I know I am kinda corny at times, but you LOVE it!

Blogging is something I LOVE to do, and as bloggers have a great appreciation for each other.

Plug-ins WPAdding the right plug-ins to your blog, can increase your traffic, user experience, and help you meet your blogs’ goals.

Just in case you are a new blogger, or thinking about starting a blog, I will start with the basics, then I will move onto sharing the good stuff that will catapult your blog to the next level.

So let’s do this…..

What Are Plug-ins?

Plug-ins WPWordPress plugins can make it all happen for your site…they can make or break ya

Plug-ins are pieces of software that are either free or for cost (basically I use the one’s that are free with GREAT reviews).

Plug-ins extend the core capabilities of WordPress, and are easily installed by even the most non-technical, like myself;)

In simple terms, a plug-in is extra code put in place on your website.

If you were a technical whiz, you could actually put your own code in your functions.php file and get creative with what you need for your site.

Unfortunately, most of us have no clue how to write code, where to put the code, or anything else related to the technical side of our WordPress blogs.

Plug-ins are an awesome way to add functionality to your site without being a coder.

The wordpress plug-in directory houses almost all of the plug-ins you will need for your site.

If you were wishing and hoping that your site could….(you fill in the blank here)

I’m gonna tell you that there is probably a plug-in for that;). LOLwhat are Plug-ins?

Most things you can imagine, some smarty pants has already developed, so all we have to do is search!

It’s awesome!

Why Use Plug-ins:

Plug-ins WP why use them?There are so many functions that are hard for non-techy people such as myself who don’t know the first thing about coding, and the complexities of most software.

If you are not a technical person, then plug-ins help you ‘getter done’ on your blog without the tech knowledge.

Sky is the limit with WP plug-ins. You use plug-ins to enhance your site, and extend it’s functionality.

Use plug-ins to backup your site, for SEO, social media, get payments to your paypal account, security, contact forms, to make it pretty, and so much more.

About This Plug-in WP Open Graph

Plug-ins WPIf you are posting useless images in social media, or less than appealing titles for your content, it doesn’t have to be that way……

This awesome plug-in allows you to choose the image, and headline for every post, so that when you share it on social media, you can optimize engagement, and encourage clicks with great headlines, and great images of your choice!

How this plug-in will catapult your business:

If you don’t use this plugin, when you post a blog post to social media, your Facebook for instance, it takes the image from wherever it wants…

Normally your side bar…..

Images are vitally important when you want to get engagement for your post, so having this plug-in will let you choose the rich snippet…aka the title and image that is shown when you post the image to social media…..

This is truly a game changer, and increased my traffic by 15% out of the gate! This is an awesome plug-in that works VERY well!!

How To Get This Plug-in

Plug-ins WPGo to plug-ins on your blog, then add new, and in the search bar type in: wp open graph. It should be the first choice (it has five stars) and is the only one named wp open graph

Click instal like you would any other plug-in…..

And Viola!

When you go to add a post, you will see the open graph plug-in at the end of the post.

WP Open Graph has been a game changer for me, and it will be for you too!

Well since caring is sharing, let’s talk about Pinterest and how it can meet your marketing campaign needs……….

Traffic & lead generation is only half the battle…..

3. Takes 10 min or less…. to set-up an account, and it’s easy to learn Pinterest….

Sit down at your computer, and I bet you that if you make an account, you can learn the basics in 30 min or less.


If I can do it, YOU definitely can!

4. Let’s you collect, share, and create resources for your Pinterest audience

5. Gives you a chance to share alot of content in your niche or industry

You can share loads of content without being overbearing, and annoying people.

The beauty here is that your followers choose your boards that they want to follow, so as long as your board topics stay relevant to the title, your target audience will appreciate you, and love you for it!

6. Allows you to target lots of consumers without worrying about offending people

Ok, I know I mentioned this earlier, but it truly is one of the characteristics that sets this social platform apart from the others.

Imagine trying to post 100 pieces of content in a day to your Facebook wall….you would turn into the “spammy loser” so fast it would make your head spin……

With Pinterest, it’s just not like that….the more content with Pinterest the better!

Ok, so I keep mentioning this one, but it is such a good traffic source, I want you to understand what you are currently missing if you are not using Pinterest….

Basically you can get create, and show your target audience exactly what you can use your services to do, or show them everything you can do with your product, and the benefits of the product.

2. Segment your content….create topical boards for your target audience

3. Move your content around based on relevance

For example, if you were promoting a seasonal product, and it is no longer in the season, move that pin to the end of your board

4. Update descriptions on your pin, and add a description that speaks to YOUR target audience

**Remember, you will get alot more in your marketing efforts, if you don’t try to market to EVERYONE….speak to your TARGET audience**

5. Add your brand link to relevant pins, when it makes sense

In your description about your pin, add the link to your website

Let’s say you are a recipe site, and you have just pinned a picture of a great recipe, add a link back to your site page that contains the recipe

**Remember, your description should be 500 characters or less.

6. Motivate user to click through to your website

For example, if you are a cookie shop and you are sharing a recipe, post a picture of the finished product, and make them want to click through to your site for the actual recipe

7. Be creative

8. Link to main website from profile home page (click pencil to edit)

When you first create your account you will have to fill out your profile, make sure you put your main profile link in your profile! Also, take the time to verify your website.

make bulleted list in description, they are easier to read, and more likely to be re-pinned

12. Join the fun: like, comment, re-pin, and follow others

13. Share on your other social channels that you are on pinterest

Use built in invite button on Pinterest to invite your other friends, and customers to join you and follow you on Pinterest

14. Link from your blog to Pinterest

Use text link to say join me on Pinterest

15. Email your list or customers, and let them know your are on Pinterest

Put a link to join you on Pinterest in the email as well as a sneek preview screenshot of your board so they know the great content they are missing out on by not joining you

16. Add pin-it button on website

**Remember: Pins are evergreen with a long shelf life…..Pinterest content doesnt have dates associated with it like other sites**


The big boys are doing it, so why can’t you?

To  name a few, even the Whitehouse, NBC News, and Mcdonalds are on Pinterest my friend!

Search for some of your favorite brands, and I bet you will be surprised by what you find…..

Or maybe you won’t be after all I have just shared with ya

Build Your Pinterest Audience:

Volume and consistency in your posting, and interaction is the best way…

Pin daily to gain the most momentum

Your goal is re-pins….people sharing your content which equals more eyeballs on your brand/company

Hi  There My Fellow Entrepreneurs:),

I am so excited that you are here! Truly, I have SO much I want to share with you, that I have learned on my journey to success. I love serving people, and I realized that blogging is the easiest way for me to serve as many people as possible.

The name of this blog stems from me wanting to give people valuable information, and that is where I get the FYI part. Originally this was going to be a recruiting blog, about how to recruit for your business, but I soon realized that I wanted to talk about more than recruiting. I decided I wanted to help the “newbie” to the internet, as well as the person struggling to get customers or leads for their business.

If you are someone just starting out, there are several things you need, before you learn how to get leads & customers for your business. Like with every business, online or offline, you have to have a foundation, a great starting point, before you try to hire employees, recruit team members, or get your first customer. So I wanted to be a resource for the new person to the internet as well.

My expertise is HR, Recruiting, Lead Generation, Customer Acquisition, Paid Traffic, & now SEO:).  For me, my expertise really tie in together……Every business needs leads & customers to survive, and I use internet strategies to accomplish this. I have an offline business & online business and I use internet strategies in both. At the end of the day though, there is no difference, every business now needs an online presence. Go where the people are…….

I have so many things in my arsenal, and all the skills I have acquired, have led me to this point, the point where I am right now. In this mind frame of thankfulness, optimism, and abundance. I am so excited so share it all with you!

This blog will serve many purposes:

-To share my story (man it’s a crazy one…..LOL)

-Share the knowledge of my journey thus far

-Help & support as many people as I can see the “light” at the end of the tunnel

-Let Everyone know that being a successful entrepreneur IS possible (especially with the internet as your vehicle)

-Help business owners realize the power of the internet & grow their business.

– Help Entrepreneurs start making more money, or increase their revenue (if you are one of the rare few that is actually making the cash you desire;))

-Build great friendships with lovely people all across the web

Now, you might ask yourself, why should I listen to you,……..ok, ok, keep calm, I am getting to that part………..

I have always been intrigued with marketing, but decided to do what was easy for me……human resources (HR). To give you the readers digest version, I grew up around HR. My mother is in HR, I have many friends in HR, and a beautiful sister in HR. I had access to a large network of HR professionals, so it was “easy” for me to get my FIRST J.O.B in HR, and many subsequent jobs that followed………..

When I finally decided to leave my corporate HR job as a Regional HR Manager with multiple locations, MOST people thought I had LOST my mind……literally.

I was single, with children, and a “good” J.O.B. In me, deep down, I felt like I was destined for more… my core, I was not fulfilled, not happy, and I knew I had to make a change, and FAST! Now, I don’t recommend that anyone do it like I did……Have a better plan….I had hit a breaking point and knew I had to GET OUT….by any means necessary, ya feel me?

I decided I was DONE…..Done with the unappreciative boss, BS policies ( I was enforcing policies I didn’t agree with, and when I tried to make a positive change for the benefit of the employees, the executive team NEVER wanted to make changes)…..Making changes that will inspire your workforce, and make life better for them, what a concept……unfortunately, I had to sell my first born to make even minor changes, like “flextime” for my employees. How dumb is that?…..

Most companies make the colossal mistake of doing what is best for their bottom line instead of what is best for the hardworking people that create revenue for the company with their blood, sweat, and tears……I could never quite get the companies I worked for to understand that if you create an environment where you treat people with respect, and like they are the life blood of your company, then you will increase the companies bottom line beyond their wildest dreams………

SO how did I get to the point where I am writing to you today? Well, ok, I’ll tell you, but remember, you asked;)

I am trying to give you the short version, but as we get to know each other, you will end up getting all the details.

I am no stranger to entrepreneurship.  As a young child I was begging my Parents to let me host a garage sales so that I could profit off my old stuff.

When I was 18 I built a team of 10 in Mary Kay, however, I got sick and tired of chasing people down, and practically begging them to place their orders, and “work” their business.  I used every strategy from making my list of everyone I knew I could call and bug the hell out of, to carrying around a clear purse with make-up samples in it. I would even go to Vista Ridge Mall and spend hours dressed in my pink coat passing out samples, and giving free makeovers. WOW, I don’t miss those days!

I have tried my hand at selling on Ebay & Craigslist, I have tried several other MLM’s, network marketing, affiliate marketing, you name it……

I have spent thousands of dollars on courses, products, coaches….I’ve even been ripped off a few times, as embarrassing as that is for me to admit:/, it’s true

When I tell you I have been there and done that, trust me I have. LOL

The bad part is NONE of the opportunities I tried made me enough money to retire off of…..

I’ve always dreamed of having my own business, it is in my heart, in my blood. I wouldn’t be happy even if I was making $1,000,000 as an employee…..

You say, yeah right, but I am SO serious……it is just NOT me, it’s really not.

I like being able to live life, MY way…..I don’t like having to ask my “boss” for a day off, or ask if I can take off for my daughter’s birthday, or worry about getting fired because my baby catches the flu…..that is SO BOGUS!

Really, you give your mind, time, and life to these dang companies, and what do you get for it??? A gold watch at retirement, when you have given them 30 years, and you are too old to see the damn watch…….

I don’t mean to offend anyone, but dang, a J.O.B is NOT for me! If you LOVE your job, then I celebrate you, and tell you to have fun and be happy:).

I currently have an offline business HR Consulting & an online business as an internet marketer & SEO expert. I have clients across the nation. I no longer go into an office to work, I work from home, sitting next to my kids, with cartoons, or CNN playing in the background.

At the end of the day, I will give you one of my BIG secrets to success….Never, ever, ever give up. Find the perfect income stream for you, and repeat it until you are making the money you want to make, and living the life you want to live.

Knowing how to generate leads & get customers is a huge piece of the success equation…..stick with me, and you will learn that part;)
